Hikers can stride in to the new year with a new programme of walks in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
Launched six years ago, the Derbyshire Dales District Council Walking for Health project has put a spring in the step of many people with walking group in Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth, led by a trained guide.
Chairman of the council’s community and environment committee, Janet Goodison said: "I’m not surprised that attendances continue to grow because walking is a great pursuit both physically and socially, and the Dales scenery takes some beating."
A full list of upcoming walks from January to March 2011 is available now on the council’s website. New walkers wanting to sign up can call the council’s sports development officer, Rob Wilks on 01629 761381 or email Rob (rob.wilks@derbyshiredales.gov.uk).
