Losehill sold to YHA

The Peak District National Park Authority has reached a deal to sell its Losehill Hall learning centre in Bakewell as part of cost-saving measures.
The organisation announced it was pulling out of the centre in December with the loss of 28 jobs.
It has now agreed to sell the site to the Youth Hostels Association (YHA), a move which the organisation said would secure the centre's future.
The authority has seen its government grants cut by 29% over four years.
In response, it has launched an action plan to save more than £446,000 in 2011-12 while "protecting essential services". Selling Losehill Hall will save an estimated £250,000 a year in running costs, it said.
The terms of the sale include a legal clause to ensure the building in Bakewell is used as a youth hostel and education and activity centre for a minimum of 20 years.
Christopher Pennell, who chairs the authority's services committee, said: "This has been a very difficult decision that has sadly seen some staff lose their jobs.
"But the agreement that has been reached enables us to bring together the experience of our learning and discovery team and the YHA to continue the legacy of the past 40 years.
"We were determined to ensure that the deal we reached with the YHA would meet the second of the authority's statutory purposes - to promote public understanding of the national park - as well as helping to relieve our financial pressures."
